Search Lincoln County Released Inmates

Lincoln County released inmates may leave the county jail for the community, state custody, another jail, or federal custody. Each path creates a different record. A Lincoln County released inmate search starts with the county release entry, then follows the named custodian or court file. Search for Lincoln County released inmates by matching the person, booking event, and release date instead of relying on roster absence alone. Lincoln County released inmates can also remain under parole, probation, earned-release supervision, or another hold after leaving the local jail.

Lincoln County Release Records

A release entry marks an exit from one booking at the Lincoln County Jail. It does not always mean freedom from all custody. Some Lincoln County released inmates post bond or complete a county sentence. Others leave under a court order, probation, or dismissal. A person may also be transferred to MDOC, another county, a federal custodian, or an immigration custodian. The release event must stay tied to the booking number and the agency that recorded it.

The Lincoln County Sheriff keeps the jail docket and operates the detention center. Its official Released view is the best quick proof that a named booking left the jail. The court record explains the case outcome. MDOC records explain state-sentence release, parole, Earned Release Supervision, and discharge. In this context, discharge generally means MDOC jurisdiction over the sentence has ended, while release may still carry rules or supervision.

Time served
A court or sentence result crediting enough custody time to permit release when all holds clear.
Parole
Conditional release from an MDOC prison sentence after action by the Mississippi State Parole Board.
Probation
Court-ordered community supervision, often imposed instead of or after jail time.
Detainer
A hold or request that may send a person to another custodian instead of the community.

Note: A release from the Lincoln County Jail proves departure from that booking, not the end of every case, sentence, or hold.

Lincoln County Release Types

The wording on a court order, jail release sheet, or receiving-agency record controls the meaning. Lincoln County release cards show charges and bond data, but they do not reliably label the release mechanism. A listed bond amount is not proof that it was paid. Likewise, charge text is not a conviction or final disposition.

Release or exit typeWhat it meansBest next record
Bond or recognizanceThe person leaves while the case may remain pending.Release sheet and bond order
Time served or sentence completeCustody credited or the local term ended, if no other hold remains.Signed judgment and release sheet
Dismissal or court orderA court action may authorize release, though processing can follow later.Signed final order and release time
Probation, parole, or ERSThe person may be in the community while still supervised.Court order, MDOC record, or Board action
TransferThe jail booking closes, but custody continues elsewhere.Destination field, MDOC, VINE, BOP, or ICE record
Other operational exitA medical transfer, escape, death, or another event may close local custody.Agency release code and supporting record

Does a release card prove the case ended? No. It records physical departure from the detention center. The matching court disposition is needed to learn whether the charge stayed pending, was dismissed, produced probation, or led to another sentence.

Lincoln County Release Record Fields

The official 48-hour card supplies a useful field set for Lincoln County released inmates. Profiles can add more detail. Save the booking number with the timestamp because repeat bookings and shared names can cause a false match. Age and photograph help, but an agency-held identifier is stronger.

FieldWhat it shows
Name and photographThe displayed identity tied to that booking; verify against other identifiers.
Booking numberThe unique link to the specific jail event and best request key.
Booking date and timeWhen that custody event began in the sheriff system.
Release date and timeThe recorded departure from the Lincoln County detention center.
Age and profile detailsMatch aids that may include sex, race, address, and arresting agency.
Charge textThe booking allegation or label, not the final court outcome.
Bond amount or statusBond information shown with the booking, not proof of payment.
Release authority or destinationA key underlying-record field that may explain community release or transfer.

The jail card may omit the actual reason for release. Ask for the booking sheet, jail docket entry, release sheet, release code or authority, and destination. The signed court order then supplies legal context. Together, those records answer both when the person left and why.

Request Lincoln County Release Records

No dedicated sheriff request form, fixed booking-photo fee, or county response schedule was found. Send a signed, dated request under the Mississippi Public Records Act to the records custodian at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The office is at 215 Justice Street, Brookhaven, MS 39601, with mailing address P.O. Box 587, Brookhaven, MS 39601. Administrative hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The records phone is 601-833-5231, fax is 601-833-4492, and email is sheriff@co.lincoln.ms.us. The jail information line is 601-833-5251.

  1. Identify the person and booking. Give the full name, booking number if known, and approximate booking and release dates.
  2. Name the existing records. Ask for the booking sheet, jail docket entry, release or discharge sheet, release date and time, release authority, destination, and any releasable booking photograph.
  3. Ask for electronic copies. Request redaction of exempt parts, a cost estimate before production, and the legal basis for any withheld portion.
  4. Keep proof of the request. If no record is found, check spelling, date range, repeat bookings, and arresting agency.

The web contact form is not labeled as a formal records portal and is not monitored at all times. A retained letter or email creates a clearer trail. The sheriff’s public 48-hour display is not the same as record retention. No official source states a destruction date for the underlying release sheet or image, so ask the custodian for the applicable retention schedule.

Note: Request a public version of the record and do not seek juvenile, sealed, medical, victim, security-sensitive, or other exempt material.

Lincoln County Release Record Law

The Mississippi Public Records Act, Miss. Code Ann. §§ 25-61-1 through 25-61-19, broadly covers records and photographs used in public business. Sections 25-61-5 and 25-61-7 address access and actual-cost charges. That framework supports a focused request for a jail release sheet, docket entry, and releasable photo. It does not erase every confidentiality rule.

Investigative details, victim data, juvenile material, medical facts, security information, and sealed or expunged material may be withheld or redacted. Section 25-1-109 also limits disclosure of some misdemeanor identities unless the statutory conditions are met. Under § 99-19-71, some dismissed, dropped, no-disposition, not-guilty, or qualifying first-offense matters may be eligible for expungement. Section 99-19-72 states a $150 filing fee for covered petitions. Current law and individual eligibility require an authoritative check.

Important: A missing public result may reflect expungement, restricted access, an older paper file, the wrong court, or a spelling mismatch. It does not prove that no booking occurred.

Lincoln County Release Scale

The official Lincoln County jail page reports an average daily population of 85. That figure describes the typical number held, not the number released in a day or year. It must not be multiplied into a turnover estimate. The jail houses adult men and women and describes county, city, state, and county/state joint work-crew categories, which helps explain why departures can lead to different systems.

Its mixed custody categories are a practical warning: a person leaving this jail may still be held by MDOC or another agency.

Correct Lincoln County MDOC Dates

State release records use labels that must remain distinct. MDOC can show parole dates, Earned Release Supervision dates, a Tentative Release Date, and a maximum or discharge date. A tentative date is a forecast, not a completed release. The person’s case manager confirms actual release planning and travel. MDOC says a discharge certificate is required before a state release is complete.

For a disputed state time calculation, contact MDOC Records instead of applying a guessed percentage. Ask for the offender time sheet, credited jail time, actual release or discharge date, and release type. MDOC Records is at P.O. Box 24388, Jackson, MS 39225, 601-933-2889, MDOCRecordsDepartment@mdoc.state.ms.us. Its published policy calls for a written response within seven working days and ordinarily production within fourteen working days after request or payment when records can be produced. Listed copying cost is $0.15 per page plus defined actual costs.

Note: Jail credit, sentence structure, conduct, detainers, court changes, and eligibility rules can move an MDOC tentative release date.

Lincoln County Release Court Records

Lincoln County’s criminal query includes a Final Disposition Date search. It also lists party name, case number, filed date, docket book and page, and file number as query paths. At the research date, remote criminal access required a paid subscription. That date is a court event. It is not the time the person passed through the jail door.

The Circuit Clerk remains the direct document route. Ask for a docket sheet and signed order by cause number. Relevant records include a bond order, dismissal or nolle prosequi, judgment and sentence, time-served order, probation or post-release order, revocation, and expungement order. Felony dispositions usually route through Circuit Court, while Brookhaven Municipal Court handles city matters and Justice Court handles matters within its jurisdiction.

The Mississippi Electronic Courts access page shows the statewide court route available for participating courts.

Lincoln County released inmate court record access through Mississippi Electronic Courts

This route should be paired with the sheriff’s exit time because the court and jail answer different parts of the release question.

Lincoln County Release Agency Match

The sheriff profile field labeled Arresting Agency shows that the Lincoln County roster is a custody feed for more than sheriff arrests. A released profile observed during research named the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Brookhaven Police, the Sheriff’s Office, MHP, or another agency may send a person to the same detention center.

Match that agency before seeking the disposition. A Brookhaven municipal charge should lead to the Brookhaven Municipal Court record, while a felony indictment should lead to Circuit Court. The physical release time still comes from the county jail record. This two-source match prevents an arresting agency from being mistaken for the court or jail that holds the final record.

Note: Use the booking number, arresting agency, and case number together when names or repeat bookings create doubt.

Find Lincoln County Released Inmates

Begin with the custodian most likely to have held the person. For a recent county booking, use the official Released list. For an older booking, ask the sheriff for the release record and then locate the court order. A state sentence belongs in MDOC. Federal and immigration cases require their own locators.

  1. Check the sheriff’s 48 Hour Release view. Match name, photo, age, booking number, booking time, and release time.
  2. Search the sheriff’s name tool if the card is not visible. Treat no result as inconclusive, not proof of release.
  3. Check MDOC by MDOC ID or name when a state sentence, work-program status, or transfer is possible.
  4. Read the court disposition for the legal outcome and any probation or post-release term.
  5. Use SAVIN for a custody event or alert, BOP for a federal sentence, and ICE for a documented immigration handoff.
  6. Request the underlying release sheet when online tools do not settle the result.
Why is the person gone from Current Inmates? Roster absence is only negative evidence. Release, transfer, a changed entry, lag, or a search mismatch can all remove a result.

An affirmative event should lead the conclusion. Preserve the displayed release time, then use the destination or court record to tell a community release from a custody handoff.

Lincoln County Release Supervision

The Mississippi State Parole Board decides parole. MDOC Community Corrections supervises parole, probation, post-release supervision, ERS, and other community statuses. A released Lincoln County person may live in the community while still subject to one of those controls. The separate MDOC parolee search accepts name, MDOC ID, city, or county. No result is inconclusive because the person may have a different status, be fully discharged, have returned to custody, or be listed differently.

Mississippi SAVIN through VINE can report a release, transfer, return to custody, escape, or abscond-supervision event for participating data sources. Open the matching person, confirm the reporting facility and identifier, and read the event date. VINE is an alert and status service, not a certified discharge record. The detailed local supervision route is covered on the Probation & Parole page.

For registry duties, the Mississippi sex-offender registry applies only to people subject to that law. A result may help confirm registry status in the community, but the registry is not a general Lincoln County release database. Absence says nothing reliable about most released people.

Lincoln County Federal Release Search

A sentenced federal person is searched through the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator by register number or by name with demographic filters. Read the Location and Release Date together. “Released” or a past date with no facility location is limited to BOP custody. It does not rule out county, state, immigration, or another form of custody. “In Transit” is not release, and a future date can change.

The successful BOP locator capture shows the official name and number search interface.

Federal BOP locator for a Lincoln County released inmate search

Federal pretrial movement is handled by the U.S. Marshals Service, which has no comparable public historical locator. Use the federal court order and seek limited custody confirmation. For a documented immigration transfer, search ICE by A-number and country of birth or by exact biographical fields. No dedicated BOP or ICE facility was identified in Lincoln County.

Compare Lincoln County Release Status

One search cannot cover every Lincoln County release. Choose the source based on the last known custodian, then seek an affirmative event. A positive release timestamp, transfer notice, or discharge record is stronger than failure to find a name.

What if every online search fails? Use the booking number, MDOC number, or court cause number to ask the agency for the existing record. A negative search may result from a narrow web window, spelling, lag, transfer, restricted data, or an older file.

Lincoln County Release Facilities

The Lincoln County Jail is the only local detention facility with an identified official release feed. Brookhaven Police arrests may enter that jail, with Municipal Court supplying the city-case result. The county/state work-crew placement calls for an MDOC check because leaving the local list may mean a state transfer. State, federal, and immigration systems each use their own search.

  • Lincoln County Jail: use the sheriff’s 48-hour card, then the jail release sheet and court order.
  • Brookhaven Police Department: match the sheriff booking with the municipal disposition; no separate city release feed was found.
  • Lincoln County–MDOC County/State Joint Work-Crew Placement: inspect MDOC location and status before calling roster removal a community release.
  • Mississippi Department of Corrections Statewide Institutions and Community Corrections: use state offender, parolee, supervision, and discharge records.
  • Federal Bureau of Prisons Nationwide System: read the BOP location and release date together.
  • ICE / ERO Detainee System: use the ICE locator and ERO process for a documented immigration handoff.

These links identify the relevant systems, not six physical jails in Lincoln County. No MDOC state prison, BOP institution, or dedicated ICE detention facility was identified inside the county.
